One Minute Writer: Technology

What form of technology do you use now that you did not use five years ago? How "indispensable" is it to you?

My BlackBerry.  Not sure when they came out, but when they did I thought to myself, why on earth do you need to be running around with a computer in your pocket? I had a cell phone, but I couldn't see the need for e-mail, internet, etc.  I probably even had some snobby remarks about people who had them.  Now I am addicted to mine.  I got my first smartphone about three years ago and I've been with BlackBerry for the past 2 years or so.  I love it and I can't live without it! It is a major source of amusement to me when I'm bored!

List challenge # 5 - books you've read

I've been avoiding this particular item on the List Challenge because I've read SO many books that I wasn't sure if I should list them each individually or what.  So I think I'm going to just wing it and see what I end up with...

Books I've read...

Many by James Patterson (see checklist here)
Many by Luanne Rice, but I'm so far behind! My love of her books started with the TV mini-series Beach Girls, based on her book.
The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer and The Host
A few Stephen King books
Lots of trashy romance novels, I had a thing for the ones with cowboys and men in uniform
Summer Sisters by Judy Bloom
I've read some books by Adriana Trigiani
I read so many R.L. Stine books when I was a pre-teen
The Vampire Diaries books by L.J. Smith
Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris, a.k.a. Sookie Stackhouse books
The Bible, the one I've linked here is the one I would love to get

It's so hard to think of all the books I have possibly read, I'm a reader so I read a lot.  Maybe I'll come back to this in the future and add more as I think of them.

Our Lady's Pantry

Today Brad and I had an adventure.  We went to Beaufort to spend the day at Our Lady's Pantry, a food pantry run by the organization I work for.  We had a fantastic day volunteering.  I interviewed clients and notified the volunteers of how much food they would need and Brad worked in the actual pantry sorting canned goods and packing bags for the clients.  It was a completely humbling experience.  It hurts my heart to see so many people out there who are suffering.  Some of the monthly income numbers were absolutely heartbreaking.  It makes me realize how much I have, even though I don't always feel like I have a lot.

On our way back we stopped at Carolina Cider Company.  It is a quaint little shop off the side of Highway 17 in Yemassee.  They had some samples out and their cider is delicious! I got some peach and Brad got some cherry.  We also sampled and bought some spicy garlic pickles and some sweet potato butter.  Both delicious! Their jams are also very good.  If you're ever traveling through that area, definitely stop by, it's a not-so-hidden hidden gem!
